About Me

The text has been written by Laura Lumley, my daughter,

 bear artist also.

Chantal has always been an artist in every single way of the word.

For as long as I can remember, she has a talent and inspiration that was

demonstrated in all kinds of forms.

The spontaneous instinct and curiosity of the artist inside of her was

always burning up with ideas and always seemed to have the need of

expressing  itself by trying new things to find new challenges and thanks

to that there is basically nothing she has never tried : knitting, crochet,

tatting, (shuttle or needle), bobbin lace, painting, spinning her own yarn,

polymer clay, embroidery, drawing and the list goes on.

She has been attracted to teddy bears from her childhood to this day.

Teddy Bears were always her favorite gifts.

She made her first crochet teddy bear about 12 years ago when I asked

to make me one ; so that I could take it to school for a special activity

day which was a pajamas day.  I still have it .. she crocheted it in

brown yarn ; when  she was done making  it, the artist settled down

and realized that with each and every bear came a brand new challenge.

Her passion for bears making has been growing ever since.

She even sometimes refers to it as an addiction.

She has been making bears all of her other skills her artistic curiosity

made her learn during her lifetime.

She  uses her painting skills to create exceptional eyes.

She uses her molding skills to make bear noses and babies or even

her embroidery skills to embellish her newly

crocheted or tatted garments for her bears.

Bear making is not a job nor a passion to her... It's plainly and

simply become her life and that's what makes

her a true and exceptional artist.

She has passed on her passion and thirst for creation to the next

generation earning my lifelong gratitude and lots of grand teddy bears.

I love you Mom,

Your biggest fan.

Laura

Living with an Artist (Written by my husband, Alain)

Chantal has been an artist for all her life, being in knitting, crochet,

paintings and now using her divers artistic talent in her life time passion,

teddy bears painting, design and creation. Through the hardship of

time and life, her the teddy bears world has always been her anchor.

I consider myself not only lucky to be her husband but I am also a huge

fan of her work. Life with an artist is sometimes… different (for lack of better word)

I always feel special when she comes to me showing her latest “work in progress”

asking what I think about it. Since I cannot lie to her, she always sees in

my facial expression if I like her new baby or not. And when I say,

“what about this feature or could you do this or that?“.. I can see

that spark of creation lighting in her eyes and then she is gone in

her workshop to “fix perfection” like I often say to her.

According to some, an artist is a creative person, a person whose

creative work shows sensitivity and imagination. I think

it describes Chantal really well.
